Rights of Passengers in Maritime Transport pursuant to Regulation (EE) 1177/2010

Abstract

The article analyses Regulation (EU) 1177/2010 obligations of carriers, terminal operators and others included in providing of maritime passengers transport services in the event of interrupted travel. It also regulates rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by sea and inland waterway. In addition to that, Regulation 1177/2010 includes provisions on rights of consumers of maritime and inland waterway transport services which fall within the scope of a package travel in the case of interrupted travel. In this paper we analyse the Croatian law of passengers in the maritime transport de lege lata and de lege ferenda as well, especially in the context of expected membership of the Republic of Croatia in the European Union.
