Abstract

Recently European experts have reviewed the available evidence concerning the effects of population level changes on the major modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) – food, physical inactivity, smoking, alcohol, stress and social deprivation as well as air pollution. They have given their recommendations aiming to assist authorities at different levels (international, national and regional) in selecting the most adequate risk management strategies to prevent CVD. Based upon these recommendations in this reveiew the same risk factors are analyzed particularly referring to the situation in Croatia.
