Abstract

Radiation consequences of the Chernobyl accident of 26f April 1986 iniciated the study on radioiodine activity in raw milk samples taken in milk collecting area of Creamery Karlovac (KIM) and in the area of Lika on purpose to establish an effective system, for population protection from consumption of contaminated milk and dairy products. Specific activity of ^131 I in raw milk samples varied from 15 to 351 Bq/1 during the period from the 1st to 31th May 1986 in KIM collecting area, and in samples taken between 8th to 19th May in the area of Lika from 394 to 1154 Bq/1. A sheme of organization and technological process for effective public protection in eventual future radiological emergency events is given.
