Contribution to the application of refractometric fat analysis in milk and margarin

Abstract
The free fat in milk powder and fat in margarine is extracted by α-bromonaphthalene. The filtrated extract is refractometrically examined. The method was compared with the conventional gravimetric determination of fat after extraction by carbon tetrachloride or ethyl ether. The described refractometric determination is considered simple and sufficiently accurate.
