Testing strength of glued polymer laminate connections

Abstract

The shear and tensile strength testing for the overlapping and tensile connections of polymer laminates, glued with polyester or epoxy adhesives, is presented in the paper. The objective of the testing was to determine quality of some modern high strength adhesives, and to define the form of destruction at connection points subjected to failure load. It is emphasized that significant information was thus obtained for the design of glued load bearing elements as used in civil and mechanical engineering.
