Abstract
The paper deals with the Lenten sermons which are preserved in the Fatević Miscellany from the 17th century. Comparison of the Fatević’s sermons with the corresponding text in the Oport Quaresimale supports the Štefanić’s hypothesis that Fatević’s sermons were transcribed from the Glagolitic Quaresimale preserved in four manuscripts from the 15th and 16th century: Kolunić Quaresimale, Quaresimale III a 19, Greblo Quaresimale and Oport Quaresimale. The comparative texts from all four manuscripts and from one more recent incomplete copy show that the complete recontruction of the earlier translation of the Quaresimale lacks only one sermon. The results show that the Fatević Miscellany has to be taken into consideration in the reconstruction of Quaresimale as it is the only one with the complete translation of the first Lenten sermon (In die cinerum), the other four manuscripts being incomplete. In this paper some of the sermons are published in the Latin alphabet transliteration with the text variants from other quaresimales.
