Abstract

Stones in the excretory duct of the salivary glands are probably one
of the most frequent diseases of the salivary glands in middle-aged persons. Symptomatology is clear and recognisable, and diagnostic procedures simple and easily performed. The authors present the case of a gigantic formed sialolith of the excretory duct of the right submandibular salivary gland, with a history o f six years. The case is interesting for the following two reasons; 1. the six-year period up to the final diagnosis, with the participation of a dentist and an ENT specialist in the earlier treatment, and, 2. the relatively good finding of the submandibular gland, considering the complex obstruction and recurring inflammations, which had lasted for several years.
