Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess the value of retention adhesion power in complete prostheses. Measurements were performed on acrylate plates o f20.25 and 38.482 area and 3 mm thick. Six different concentrations of artifical saliva specially designed instruments. The following variable were determined: area of acrylate plates, saliva thickness and rate of separation of the areas tested.
The values of adhesion powers examined are expressed in newtons
(N). Statistical processing of the results obtained included calculation of arithmetical means, standard deviations, minimal and maximal variable values, coefficients of variability and value of covariance.
The results and discussion points to a conclusion that the mean value of adhesion retention power for the tested sample wa 21.36 N. Great differences were recorded between particular measurements, depending on the acrylate plate area and saliva concentration. The mean retention adhesion power in the samples of 38.38 and 20.25 cm2 area was 29.52 and 15.34 N, respectively.
