Abstract

A marked increase in dental awareness observed in patients over the last decade has possibly been the single most important factor responsible for the high priority placed on the esthetics and maximal conservation of tooth structure. The introduction of the acid-etched technique and usage of composite resins have opened new possibilities of bonding in prosthodontic therapy, allowing the binding of metal-alloy complexes. The conservative dental approach, presence of current economic recession worldwide, increase in retentive strength and long-term bond between enamel and metal alloy, and application of more economical casts, have made the resin bonded bridges ever more popular in dentistry.
