Abstract

In a seven-year-old girl with longitudinal fracture of the crown and root of the upper central incisor, the tooth was preserved by the stepwise treatment during 8 years, i.e. by the age o f 15. Radiographic documentation reveals the completion of apexification to have occurred during the treatment. Although the tooth had eventually to be extracted, it had actually served its functional and esthetic role.
