Abstract

The paper discusses Piranesi, the interpreter of monuments and artefacts of Classical Antiquity. Through the forms of decorative objects – which, in his view, ideally incorporate the spirit of Antiquity, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, by precision and power typical of his expression, presents his own picture of ancient Rome.
