Abstract

On the sample by random selection of 20% of registrated cards from all patients at the Department for Fixed Prosthodontics School of Dentistry in Zagreb in the period from 1985 - 91. it has been established that by 1334 patients (562 male and 832 female) there were constructed 1955 frontal, extensive (including lateral and frontal teeth) and lateral bridges. Through testing the observed frequencies for each age groups (X2 - test) it has been established that the frequencies of applied kinds of bridges depend upon the age o f individuals both sexes. The extensive kind of bridges in women have been most frequently applied at the age of 36 to 45, and in men at the age of 56 to 65. The most often application of lateral bridges in women is at the age of 46 to 50, in men of 56 to 60. The most intensive constructed frontal bridges for both sexes have been established at the age of 56 to 65. By comparing the obtained results with the date of other authors it is noticeable that the frequencies o f the mentioned kinds of all bridges have been applied in older groups of our patients.
