Abstract
Correlation between craniofacial parameters and age was studied in a sample o f 63 male and 66 female subjects with class I III or class IH2 anomalies. Head and face dimensions were measured by standard cephalometer, whereas gnathometric analysis was performed on plaster casts. Statistical processing supported by an SPSS/PS-1- program pointed to the following conclusions:
- in subjects with class IIU, the age-dependent model o f growth elicited different effects on the expression o f clinical symptoms: in males, the symptoms increased, whereas in females the symptoms diminished due to dentoalveolar adaptation; - in subjects with class IH2, the age-dependent model o f growth also influenced the dynamics o f clinical symptoms: in males, clinical symptoms did not change, whereas in females they were more pronounced.
