Abstract

Distribution o f forces on two active plate modifications, i.e. with symmetrically and asymmetrically built-in extensor for transversal extension, was experimentally analyzed. Besides the size o f forces exerted by the device, dependence o f the force magnitude on the anchorage, i.e. on the way o f the screw insertion and acrylate cut, was also determined. Theoretical analysis o f the device showed that greater force should be expected on the side with lower total active surface. This hypothesis was also proven by measurement results.A substantially greater force o f about 10 N was recorded on the side where the screw was shifted, whereas a force o f only 6.5 N was registered on the other side. The forces recorded on a symmetrically
cut plate were almost identical on the two sides. A t the beginning o f measurements, values o f about 8 N were bilaterally registered and thereafter observed to decline to about 5 N.
