Abstract
During the Middle Ages and the early Mo¬dern Age Križevci often hosted assemblies. In most cases those were gatherings of Slavonian nobility, that is to say, Slavonian assemblies, although both, Croatian and Slavonian assemblies sat together in 1524, and again in 1692 for the last session.
Due to very few sources, mainly badly preserved or kept records of these assemblies up to the mid 16th century, all sessions held in Križevci are impossible to reconstruct. However, records available cover the six assemblies from the fourteenth century, of which the best known is the famous ‘Križevci Bloody Assembly’, and nine assemblies held in the fifteenth century. At the beginning of the 16th century (up to 1526), there had been thirteen assemblies, all well recorded, and after 1527 nobility gathered in Križevci at sixteen more events. At least forty-four meetings at national level are believed to have been held in Križevci in the past.
