Abstract
The authors describe the operative procedure for the antrooral communication closure within 48 hours after opening, in patients without clinical and roentgenological signs of the maxillary sinus infection. The rocedure is evaluated by assessing the relation of the time passe Bfr om the moment of opening the sinus until surgical closure and possible appearance of infectious complications, e.g. recurrence of antrooral communication. Choice of surgical method depends on the estimation of the vestibular sulcus reduction. Results have been satisfactory, therefore the authors recommend surgical closure of an open sinus with no signs of an infection within 48 hours. As the method of choice we recommend procedure with rotated gingivovestibular flap.
