Abstract

Epidermodysplasia verruciformis is an extremely rare autosomal recessive genetic hereditary skin disorder associated with a high risk of carcinoma of the skin. It is characterized by abnormal susceptibility to human papillomaviruses infection. The resulting uncontrolled HPV infections result in the growth of scaly macules and papules (warts), particularly on the hands and feet and development of cutaneous carcinomas. Here, we report a rare case of epidermodysplasia verruciformis in 17-year-old Asian woman who presented with palmar pits in addition diffuse warts on the other parts of the body. Histology of these lesions revealed a human papiloma virus infection. Palmar pit like lesions may be a unique manifestation of the syndrome that we couldn’t find in literature. We recommendthat palmar pit like lesionsshouldbe considered as a unique feature of the syndrome.
