Abstract

Anatomy and physiology are the foundation of the medical profession. Anatomical and physiological terms form the basis of the medical language. HRANAFINA, i.e. the Croatian acronym for the Croatian Anatomical and Physiological Terminology, is a project of the University of Zagreb’s School of Dental Medicine. It is funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and carried out in cooperation with medical schools from three other Croatian universities . This project has a twopronged aim: first, build the Croatian anatomical and physiological terminology and second, popularize the use of the Croatian anatomical and physiological terminology among healthcare professionals, medical students, scientists and translators. Internationally recognized experts from Croatian biomedical schools and linguists are involved in the project. All project activities are coordinated in agreement with the National Coordinator for Development of Croatian Professional Terminology.
