Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is the emphasis and explanation of andragogue's role as a motivator, interpreter and mentor in designing tourist supply in Croatia.
In creating formal and informal programs in adult education for tourism, the guidelines determined by World Tourist Organization (WTO 2010) should be followed. WTO considers that for practicing sustainable tourism development one should fulfil the criteria of respecting local culture and tradition and that foreign visitors should learn the local manners, language and culture; but also that local population could learn about various expectations foreign guest might have.
Since tourist economy is not a closed theory one should create an education for the “high quality human capital”- tourist workers who have the ability of connecting to others with ease, being adjustable, efficient and creative. An andragogue should put an emphasis on self-motivation and motivation because it gives positive results, and the motivation itself guarantees energy needed for achieving goals.
