Abstract

The aim of the paper is to describe the experience with delivering workshops to primary and secondary school headmasters, municipality education department officers and Ministry of education officials as a part of the pilot project in the field of education in Kosovo. The environment in which the workshops were delivered is specific for its underdeveloped educational infrastructure, large number of pupils, multicultural setting which includes ethnically combined but also isolated schools. On the other hand, there are a lot of investments in various educational projects by donors and funds for educational development. Additional complexity for the workshop delivery was set by the project itself, as it prescribed the inclusion of participants from different national and language groups: Albanians, Serbians, Turks and Bosniacs. Therefore it was necessary to organize translation for different languages during the workshops. We will describe methods for organizing group work, developing very dynamic discussions, exchanging of feedback between trainers and participants, holding participants' attention by directing them towards positive thinking. To apply these methods, trainers had to use great flexibility, patience and skills, so in this paper we will focus on trainers' competences needed for delivering training in multilingual settings in the described environment.
