Abstract

The study deals with the concept of education focused on lifelong development of key competences in andragogical profession. It is based on the thesis that one acquires new competences throughout one’s whole life. An andragogue’s ability and preparedness for lifelong learning are crucial for acquiring new competences as well as for developing, modifying and changing them. Abilities are made up by skills and knowledge and they form the following competences: communication and cooperation; problem solving; independence and performance; responsibility; thinking and learning; argumentation and evaluation. These interrelated competences acquired in the process of lifelong learning support andragogues’ personal and professional growth necessary for high quality performance.
