Abstract

The aim of this article is to highlight the fact that theories of aiding
should be one of the crucial facts in the implementation of the program of rehabilitation of prisoners in the penal system. Precondition of stabilizing prisoners, because of the diversity of their psychosocial and criminological characteristics, is to rehabilitate them with the appropriate therapeutic procedures.
The fact of missing this effect actually favours the status quo which complicates efforts to put the prisoners in a position to change their behaviour in all aspects and to be prepared for life after release. Organization and the practice in penal institutions mainly relies on a hierarchical model of functioning, often prone to bureaucracy, which is slowing the radical change and continuous innovation of work in prisons. This contributes to undesirable repercussions for inmates and staff whose job is to design and implement an individual program of execution of the prison sentence.
