Abstract

A number of clinical cases of roentgenologically ascertained tooth root
hypercementosis is described. Although hypercementosis is not very common, a clinician should be made familiar with it because of a variety of its possible effects on therapeutic procedures and on clinical prognosis. Hypercementosis may be desirable in case when increased amounts of a newly formed cementum improve the periodontal ligament firmness, but also undesirable when impairing tooth eruption or causing difficulties in tooth extraction.
