Abstract

In this study, the results obtained by the application of low-frequency
currents in the treatment of trigeminal nerve neuralgias were assessed. Ten patients were treated during 30 days. In all the 10 patients, both parameters were found to be significantly reduced, as assessed by the pain intensity and adminitration of analgetics. The use of now-frequency currents is thus considered a valuable alternative method in cases of trigeminal neuralgia where other therapeutic procedures have not produced satisfactory results.

Keywords

trigeminal neuralgia; low-frequency currents
