Abstract

In the Introduction presented are the results of some investigations
of the etiologic factors of stomatopyrosis. The objective of this study
was to determine the significance of the incidence of some etiologic
factors of stomatopyrosis, in order to improve its therapy. The incidence of objective pathological oral signs, the presence of systemic disorders and the patients' bad habits have been studied.
A total of 308 subjects have been examined. In zubjects with stomatopyrosis the incidence of gastrointestinal disorders and xerostomia has been found to be significantly higher than the incidence of hyperkeratosis and ulceration of the oral mucosa, which is an important fact for the choice of therapy. It has also been established that subjects with stomatopyrosis drink less alcohol and smoke fewer cigarettes than those without this oral symptom.
