Genetic defects of the enamel

Abstract

A presentation is made of the current classification of genetic enamel defects, whose diagnosis should be based on clinical, genetic and histologic criteria. These criteria are of a great importance, especially in the recognition and definition of the phenocopies of genetic enamel defects. The diagnosis of this hereditary defect demands a large body of genetic information which can be obtained by a detailed family history and heredogram.
