Abstract

The effects of three fluor preparation (NaF, Fluor-Protector and Aminofluoride) on the enamel of permanent teeth has been studied by determinig the fluor concentrations in the enamel surface layer and the resistance of enamel to the effects of acids. The fluor preparations were applied to intact extracted teeth. Fluor concentrations were determined in the enamel samples using a Bedkman electrode with pH meter for fliuorides. Acid resistance was established by etching the enamnel samples, previously treated with fluor preparations, with 37% phosphoric acid for three minutes. SEM of type JOEL T-20 was used for the analysis of enarnel surfaces. Following the application of NaF the enamel fluor concentration was 850 ppm, following the application of Fluor-Protector 2327 ppm, while after the application of Amlinofiuoride it was 5745 ppm, i.e. 2.5 times higher than after using Fluor-Protector. The enamel samples pretreated with Aminofluoride also showed the highest resistance to acids.
