Abstract

Evaluation is a very important phase in the implementation of crime prevention programs. It should provide answers on two key questions. First, is the program implemented in a way that was planned, and second, whether the program achieved desired results in reducing or eliminating a problem? Although it is commonly thought that any prevention program was evaluated the reality is that many programs were implemented without consideration of the evaluation, which prevents not only perceiving of the final effect of that program, but also problems that may arise in its implementation. This paper indicates on those problems and approach how should access to evaluation of prevention programs. Especially it indicates on provisions of certain laws in the United Kingdom and the United States relevant for evaluation of prevention programs.
