Abstract

The authors examined the permanency, the function and esthetic value of 158 permanent upper teeth reconstructed with Concise material in 118 children. The time period from the completed reconstruction to the control examination was between six months to six years. Special attention was paid to the permanency of the reconstruction, giving consideration to whether the composite material was applied with or without mechanical retention. The majority of the reconstructions lasted between two to four years and color was preserved for an average of two years. On the basis of the examination, the authors recommend etching up to 3 mm bellow the fractured line wilth mechanical retention, or etching of the entire surface without mechanical retention. The authors conclude that application of the composite material, gives satisfactory results in the reconstruction of damaged crowns in young permanent teeth.
