Croatian public libraries in the year 2011

Abstract

This survey of the Croatian public libraries activities in 2011 is based on the complete statistical data on the work of Croatian public libraries, which include their financing, collection development, library space and equipment, patrons and services, and finally the professional librarians who conduct library activities in their communities. Public libraries in Croatia are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture. The aim of this paper is to give a review of library activities and compare them, where possible, with the regulations from the two documents in force: the Regulations of the Activities of Central Commissions for Libraries in the Republic of Croatia (2001) and the Standards for Public Libraries in the Republic of Croatia (1999).
