Anaesthesia and reanimation in maxillo-facial trauma

Abstract

The authors discuss the problems of maxillo-facial trauma from the aspect of the anesthesiology and reanimation. They understress the fact of inadequate treatment in the transport and in the first aid what is essential in the agraviation of the condition of these patients. 470 patients of this sort of trauma has been treated in M F department of General Hospital in Osijek. The authors deal only with grave traumas of this region and it concerns about 10% of all M F traumas. A special accent is put on the problem of tracheostomy and their oppinion is that it is indicated in case of trauma of M F region when there is a possibility of respiratory obstruction after surgical intervention.
