Abstract

The authors have examined the condition of 340 patients with pathological changes of the oral mucosa following application of general and local antibiotics therapy. On the basis of the results obtained they have outlined the indications for such a therapy: Local therapy by means of broad spectrum antibiotics, combined with general antibiotics therapv is indicated in all cases of secondary infectious discontinuity of the oral mucosa which appear with general symptoms and show a tendency of spreading or deepening. Local therapy of broad spectrum antibiotics alone is indicated in all cases of secondary infections of the oral mucosa which do not show a tendency of regression and where sufficient local concentration of antibiotics may be secured over a satisfactory period of time.
