Abstract

Although the method of determination of the arbitrary mandibular hinge
axis point has been adopted :in the articulatory technique for quite a long time now, the common opinion on the clinically most acceptable hinge axis mean point is still lacking. Our study was carried out in 20 students with all teeth and without any objective or subjective signs and symptoms of the stomatognatbic system dysfunction. The Panadent system and Lauritzen’s technique were used thereby. The recommended points on the ’chantus’ line of 12— 13 mm, with a 5 mm width of dispersion allowed, were compared. In 50% of cases, the point of 12— 13 mm on the chantus line was acceptable, but for any more complex work an exact kinematic mandibular hinge axis should be determined.
