Abstract

The present investigation included 28 patients with full dentures and denture stomatitis (22 women and 6 men). The authors used smears from palate mucosa and from denture base. Candida albicans was found in 82,15 per cent of 56 smears and 41,06 persent had profuse colonies. Candida albicans was found more ofen on denture base then on palate mucosa. After local nystatin therapy the percentage of Candida was 32,56, and profuse colonies were found only in 10,52 percent of cases — which clearly proves the efficiency of suggested therapy.
