Abstract

The autors present their own case of an eosinophilic granuloma of the mandible, and pointed out the difficulties in differential diagnoses. They emphasize that eosinophilic granuloma, Hand-Schüller-Christian disease and Letterer-Siwe disease are manifestations of the same pathological process, as histiocytosis »X«. The case was surgically treated removing the contents of the cavity after which the lesion was filled new bone. The patient was kept under review for some time because in some instances the disease progresses to the chronic or acute generalised variety.
