Abstract

In the introductory part the authors list different opinions about the etiology, structure and localization of pulp stones. The authors investigated the localization of visible pulpoliths in single and multirooted teeth and to what extent pulp stones make intraradicular instrumentation more difficult. Od the 64 pulpoliths found — in 32 patients, 38 were localized in the cavum of the pulp in the lateral teeth and 16 in frontal teeth, mostly localized in the coronary part of the root canal.In two of the cases presented the authors described the most suitable way of removing denticles. Each phase of the work may be observed by individual pictures of both cases. The authors emphasize that pulpoliths not diagnosed prior to the endodontic intervention make intraradicular instrumentation more difficult. The authors consider that the incidence of pulpoliths in the pulp cavity should warn the practician of this objective difficulty when treating the pulp.
