Abstract

This paper briefly describes basic ideas and related realization of electrical energy consumption optimization system in thermal power plant TE-TO Osijek. This system is based on so called WAGES concept (Water-Air-Gas-Electricity-Steam), which is usually industry acronym for applications intended for rationalization of consumption of primary and secondary energy sources.
Electrical energy consumers, as well as electrical energy producers are facing up increasing demands on overall energy consumption rationalization. There are various causes of these demands: specific market conditions, prices of energy sources and ecological issues. Rationalization can be performed on any of five basic energy resources: water, air, gas, electricity or steam. The aim of this project is to find out whether there are any consumers, or even whole parts of the system, whose energy consumption is unusually great, or whose consumption is staggered in such time intervals that it makes exploitation expensive.
Optimization process is a cyclical process made out of 4 basic operations: data acquisition, data analysis, decision making and error correcting activity. This paper brings technical description of one such system.
