Abstract

This paper demonstrates the development and conventions of the female literature within the Croatian autobiographical discourse and literary canon in general. The framework is based on the postmodern notion of discourse and of a scientific paradigm, as well as on the Foucauldian notion of power counter-effects, used in feminism critique to articulate subordinated female subjects within the patriarchal ideology. The nexus of body-text-space is presented as productive terrain for interpretations of specific female expression and is analyzed in the novel Ljubav na posljednji pogled (2003) by Vedrana Rudan. In the novel, the literary subject, through the discourse of profanity, subverts patriarchal ideology and overcomes the traditional binary relations. Due to these reasons,
this novel steps out from the frame of chick-lit prose where it is usually situated and points out the problems of autobiography and imbalance between individual and group female perspectives.
