Abstract
The nickname with the proper name or since 16th c. with the surname is the characteristic of either the individuals or the families with a number of the same surname. The first traces of the nicknames in the Trogir written origins were tracked since 13th c. and later on in the registers of births, marriages and deaths since the second half of 16th c. These nicknames have their significance in linguistics and al so in the cultural history as they partly explain the social conditions of their origin.
