Abstract

We live in a world where there is a general crisis of the professional evaluation of teachers in general: their work is not valued appropriately. RE teachers feel the need to be socially, professionally and ecclesiastically recognized. Insufficient professional recognition is manifested through lower wages and a different approach to RE teachers at work. Besides issuing certain statements and issuing the canonical mandate, it is important that the Church evaluates the RE teacher’s work and his involvement in trade unions. RE teachers that possess the same level of education as other teachers, contribute through their work and teaching to education and formation of their students in a positive and comprehensive manner. The Forum Erelgune supports confessional religious education in the schools. Through its activities, the Forum Erelgune will continue to strive to support the specific contribution of RE teachers in the social, professional and ecclesiastical field.
