Abstract

Modelling of subsurface scattering of photons using Monte Carlo method is based on random generation of samples from the probability distribution that describes the distance that the photon travels between two events (scattering and /or absorption) and scattering angles . The motion of photons is described by the propagation of photon packages where many equivalent photons simultaneously propagate along a path. The path that the photon package crosses between the two interactions is inconsistently distributed variable obtained from uniformly distributed random variable using mapping techniques. The photon package is orthogonally launched through the border surface of medium in which the path is determined by the successive photon scattering and absorption within each layer. This theoretical model was calculated by mathematical computer program in Mathcad 11. The model enables the calculation of lateral scattering of light in the paper, which allows a more precise description of the dot gain.
