Abstract

The specifi cities of forms of musical expression within Croatian traditional music possess, in addition to diversity, features that distinguish them form each other. Thus, the paper highlights Croatian traditions as music microcultures intertwined with other music cultures. For this purpose, primary school music education curricula from 1946 to 2006 were analysed. We wanted to determine how much music education curricula include Croatian traditional music and music of other cultures as a co-construct of an intercultural approach to music education in a multicultural society. The results indicated
insuffi cient sensibility of music curricula for musical diversity and multicultural differences with the purpose of achieving multiculturality which traditional music provides through a variety of intercultural processes of education.
