Abstract

The author presents the state and the phases of emergence and acceptance of a vocation. When talking about the "vocation" one should bear in mind that this is a theo-anthrical fact which is both divine and human. Thus, God, the human individual and human and ecclesial communities are included. The moment a vocation emerges contains something special, one might "magical". The person discerning a vocation opens up to another and to fellowship. He also begins to live as if he is in love. After an phase of intimate concealment the vocation becomes transparent and open to the community. The formative journey of the initial state of the vocation is a time of learning where one learns to be together selflessly. It is also a time of searching. By accepting a vocation a new community is accepted: a covenant. Along the journey in achieving a vocation one should distinguish and accept God, the Church and human action. Youth ministry is also vocation ministry. Vocation animators must unconditionally accept every person. This creates confidence and allows openness. Young people need help, individually and in groups, in self discovery and acceptance of their identity.
