A Participatory Project: Proclaiming the Gospel to Youth and Accompaning them to Encounter the Lord Jesus. The Way to Emmaus (Lk 14, 13 - 15), A Biblical Model
Juan José Bartolomé
; Rim, Italija
Abstract
Seeking an answer to the question of how to proclaim the Gospel to young people today and lead them to encounter Jesus, the author recalls the Gospel account of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus and their encounter with Jesus. In the New Testament there are many stories of Jesus' appearing to his disciples after the resurrection. The author focuses on Luke's presentation of the encounter of the two disciples with Jesus on their journey to Emmaus. After outlining the main exegetical features of Luke's report, the author offers a "Salesian" reading of the account. The goal and criterion presented is life in the community. It is important to be interested, and even "concerned" for evangelisation in order to promote a method of unified journey. After the initial disappointment and difficulties due to the knowledge of Jesus, we should accept Jesus as he is. Then it will be possible and necessary to return to the community to witness, and this in turn means starting a new journey.
