Abstract
The author briefly presents the research done amongst the councilors of the 26th General Council of the Salesian Society. The goal of the research was to determine to what extent human rights are present in the thoughts and actions of the Salesians in the world. Education is important for solidarity in human life while human rights can be an engine and way for accomplishing solidarity with the whole world. The culture of human rights, the pedagogy of human rights and promoting the value and dignity of the person helps educators reveal and promote the rights of the person and his inalienable dignity. This is important for promoting peaceful coexistence in today's multicultural society. The reasearch shows to what degree the following issues are adressed in educational institutions: the protection of human rights of minors, the protagonists included, what has been achieved to date and what should be done regarding permanent formation of educators. A deeper understanding of education for human rights is required so that human rights can be incorporated into the goals and content of evangelization and educational and pastoral work.
