Abstract
Richness and diversity of school textbooks greatly contributes to cultural and educational progress of a nation. If the number of the previously mentioned textbooks is on the increase, and if the existing textbooks are available in new and adapted editions, then it is to be assumed that the above mentioned goal has been reached. This article deals with primary and high-school textbooks. Moreover, the article provides a detailed analysis of Christian themes in those textbooks, and that in order to obtain a much clearer insight concerning the possibility of supplementing Religious Education and other school subjects. School textbooks published by Školska knjiga have been completly analyzed, including the majority of the existing textbooks, the following conclusion has been drawn: there are far too many similar school textbooks, in respect to the requirements of the Croatian education system. Christian themes are differently presented, in respect to different authors and different school subjects. The fact remains that the themes are presented and that sets a good foundation for intercurricular correlation.
