Abstract
Literature data on the dens invaginatus frequency and various opinions on the problem are given in the introductory section. In the study, 2000 palatal surfaces of the permanent upper incisors in 500 subjects (210 males and 290 females) were examined using Hallett’s classification. Classes III and IV according to Hallett were detected in 7 examinees (3.1 0/o of cases). Four teeth with class IV invagination revealed an incompleted growth of the apical root portion and a peri-apical process, one tooth had a completed growth of the root with periapical process, whereas a completed growth of the root without any periapical complications was shown in to teeth. As various therapeutical approaches to this abnormality have been applied (radical, endodontic, combined), the importance of the specialist endodontic treatment is emphasized.
