Abstract

The use of discrete element method for the silo content modeling is described through Kelvin's rheological viscoelastic body, and the cohesion is simulated with a Hookean spring. The silo wall shape and roughness are approximated using fixed overlapping balls. Differential equations of the free fall of the balls are sholved analytically and, in other cases, the direct predictor-corrector integration method is used.
