Abstract

For the purpose of comparison of study of Geodesy and Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb with similar studies in the world we have made an analysis of studies of geodesy (surveying and mapping), geodesy and geoinformatics and geomatics at eight universities in Europe, four universities in North America and one university in each: Asia, Africa and Australia. Selection of universities was primarily dependent on the availability of all the necessery data on the Internet in English or German. The required data for the analysis were the list of courses per semester, credits or lectures and exercises hours for each course, the conditions that a student must meet to graduation and courses descriptions. For each undergraduate study all courses are grouped into these categories: mathematics, physics, geoinformatics, engineering and land surveying, geodetic calculations, photogrammetry, cartography, mathematical, physical and satellite geodesy, land management and other content. In all studies for each category we calculated the percentage of representation in relation to the total content and compared them with study in Zagreb. We have also given a brief comparison of graduate studies with regard to the kind of programs offered and number of specializations.
