Abstract

By confirming the historical-critical method in interpretation of the Holy Scripture the Second Vatican Council has opened the possibility of numerous and different interpretations of the Holy Scripture, and therefore dogmas as well. In some cases it led to irreconcilable interpretations of the Holy Scripture and the Catholic Church’s dogmas. Joseph Ratzinger starts therefore with the person of Jesus Christ which is in the center of the Christian faith and which could be understood only by life with Him. It leads us to the conclusion that the interpretation of the Holy Scripture is inseparable from the dogmatic teaching and the Church’s Tradition, because the Church is a reality to whom and by which the Holy Scripture itself was formed. Considering another Council’s postulate according to which the Holy Scripture is “Soul of Theology”, this article is dedicated to the presentation of the theological reflection of Benedict XVI about the relationship between Dogmatic and Exegesis. In this context, the mystery of the Eucharist is being reflected, as well as its biblical foundation, its meaning and its indispensability as a central mystery of the Church by which Christians have access to the salvific communio of God and man, which is realized by the event of the Christ’s incarnation, and which is communicable in the mystery of the Easter.
